Wedding hair: a timeline from three months out to the day itself

Three months out

The last major change of colour or length. That leaves room for a correction if the result needs one, and time to rebuild the hair before the shoot. If you are dreaming of going from dark brown to blonde, this is the last moment to even start.

Four to six weeks out

The trial updo, ideally with the veil and the jewellery you will actually wear. We photograph it from three angles and save it to your client card together with the list of products used. On the wedding day nobody reconstructs anything from memory.

Bring a photo of the dress. The neckline decides whether the updo should expose the nape or close the silhouette instead.

Ten to fourteen days out

Toner and an ends trim. Fresh colour photographs better after two weeks than it does the day after - it loses that flat, artificial shine the camera picks up mercilessly.

The day itself

Wash your hair the evening before, not in the morning. A day-old wash holds an updo far better because the hair has something to grip. Come to the appointment in a shirt that buttons at the front - pulling a jumper over your head after an hour of work is the simplest way to start everything again.
